Depression Therapy
Our depression psychotherapy sessions will be personalised to you. We will develop a treatment plan that will enable you to develop techniques which will help you cope with everyday situations. The sessions will be private and confidential unless you choose to invite others for support.
It’s thought that as many as one in six British adults experiences a diagnosable mental health problem at any given time. There are many different causes. Stressful life changes such as divorce, bereavement and giving birth can result in depression, having a severe effect on the sufferer’s health.
The main thing to keep in mind if you feel depressive symptoms is that the illness is treatable. Some severe depression sufferers benefit from the use of medication. Though medication can ease suffering, it does not cure depression and shouldn’t be the only angle of treatment to take. If it is prescribed to you, the medication should be used alongside psychotherapy sessions. We will take the time to plan your therapy within your current treatment schedule.
MORESports Therapy
I have extensive experience in Sports Psychotherapy in a variety of environments. Sports psychotherapy covers many aspects of a sportsperson or team’s performance. After an injury, an individual’s psychological recovery can be as important as their physiological recovery.
Many sports psychotherapy cases aren’t injury-based. Lack of concentration and anxiety while taking part in the activity are common issues. Regaining and maintaining confidence is a key aspect of the sports psychotherapy we offer, part of which will involve identifying and removing the buffers which currently halt performance. Another common issue among sportspeople is aggression and anger and, most importantly, controlling them when in the sporting environment.
In the sessions, we will work towards improving focus when it is most needed. This will involve remembering past successes and channelling the positivity in a forward-thinking way. If an individual has trouble working in a team environment, our psychotherapy sessions can help alleviate the causes of the problem so that the team can perform better as a whole to benefit everybody involved. There is no limit to the number of people who can take part in our psychotherapy sessions. As a result, both individual and team issues can be addressed and overcome.
MOREFamily Therapy
Whether there is an intrinsic and identified problem in your family unit or not, family psychotherapy is hugely beneficial to the health of family members’ relationships. Your family therapy sessions will allow you to recognize and express any thoughts you have or emotions you feel that you have previously found difficult to air. The sessions can take place wherever is easiest for you but many people find that a neutral environment is the best place to discuss issues freely. We have two relaxing spaces on Rodney Street and Old Hall Street in Liverpool.
An important part of our work will be to help you understand each others’ views and feelings and appreciate your loved ones’ needs from the relationship. In a family the fundamental bonds can be strengthened through the work we do together.
Children are often the unintended victims of family issues. Separation, divorce or life with a new step family can be overwhelming for a child to cope with and the sessions will help them adapt to the situations.
MOREAddiction Therapy
A widely misunderstood illness, addiction can present itself as a result of innumerable events through life. Its symptoms are wide-ranging. The way we will collaboratively tackle your addiction effectively is to identify and manage the causes.
Having spent seven years specialising in the field of addiction, my knowledge and experience helps to formulate a conclusive treatment plan with achievable outcomes.
We will begin by diagnosing your specific type of addiction. The numerous variations branch out from two root categories. These are Substance Addiction and Behavioural Addiction. Alcohol and substance abuse are the most common activities attributed to addiction. Behavioural Addiction can be just as damaging to the sufferer’s health and social wellbeing and includes gambling, sex, and eating, among others. Though the two might seem separate, the chemical processes that occur with substance abuse which cause pleasurable sensations are similar to those which occur with behavioural addiction.
